Operating terms / Signals program

Terms & Conditions.

These terms govern the Usefully Strange website, digital experiences, and the Usefully Strange Signals text-message program.

Effective October 1, 2026Last updated October 1, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

By accessing this website, using a Usefully Strange experience, or initiating a Usefully Strange Signals session, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website or initiate a Signals session.

2. About Usefully Strange Signals

Usefully Strange Signals is a participant-initiated interactive SMS story and puzzle service. A participant sees an invitation at a participating physical venue and voluntarily texts a displayed venue-specific keyword to (855) 633-6638. Usefully Strange is the sole sender and operator of the messaging program. Participating venues host the experience but do not send program messages or receive participant mobile numbers.

3. Consent and message frequency

By texting a displayed Signals keyword, you expressly consent to receive automated text messages needed for that one interactive session. A typical session sends approximately 3 messages over three to five minutes. Message frequency may vary based on your responses. Starting another session creates a new participant-initiated interaction. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Signals does not enroll you in recurring promotional or marketing messages.

4. Charges, support, and opting out

Message and data rates may apply according to your wireless plan. Reply STOP at any time to stop messages. Reply HELP for customer care or information. You may also text HELP to (855) 633-6638. After a valid STOP request, you may receive one confirmation message. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

5. Eligibility and acceptable use

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms. Do not use the service to violate any law; interfere with the service; impersonate another person; transmit malicious code; attempt unauthorized access; harass others; or exploit, copy, or redistribute the experience except as permitted in writing.

6. Fictional and entertainment content

Usefully Strange experiences may use fictional reports, characters, mysteries, speculative events, altered imagery, or dramatic presentation. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, these elements are creative entertainment and should not be interpreted as factual claims, emergency instructions, professional advice, or representations of real events.

7. Venue relationships and rewards

A participating venue may provide the physical setting or an optional completion reveal or reward. Availability, rules, substitutions, and fulfillment of venue-provided items may vary. Unless expressly stated, participating venues do not operate Signals and do not receive your mobile number or text-message consent.

8. Intellectual property

The website, Signals experiences, stories, puzzles, designs, photographs, graphics, trademarks, and other content are owned by Usefully Strange or used with permission. These terms grant only a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to participate in the experience.

9. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website or Signals program, including keywords, message sequences, features, and availability. Mobile delivery is not guaranteed and may be affected by carriers, devices, connectivity, maintenance, or events outside our control.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The website and experiences are provided “as is” and “as available,” to the fullest extent permitted by law. Usefully Strange disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Usefully Strange will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the services.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not otherwise resolved will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Clark County, Nevada, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. For Signals customer care or questions about these terms, text HELP to (855) 633-6638.
